It's driven by economics of course but more and more people are seeing that MS works best in its own (expensive) monoculture and doesn't play well in a mixed environment. I've seen considerable resistance of late (and not from me, but from biz types!) to MS solutions even when the part that "they" see is nominally cheaper than another solution. IOW even the biz people are cottoning onto that solution A at X dollars from MS implies elements B and C from MS for additional money wheras solution F may mean more work (and dollars) up front but less ongoing cost and additonal requirements ... and with greater stability and better service times to boot (bad pun).
