I put a dvdram blank into my shiny new dvd-burner, typed "mkfs /dev/hdc " into a terminal window, and now* have a four-gigabyte read/write removeable fsck-able storage disc. [Like a floppy but bigger and stiffer? Must be the answer to every maiden's prayer.]
But none of my friends and relations can read it, so I tried "mkfs -t vfat /dev/hdc " instead. No joy, just error messages!
Of course this problem is mainly Sir William's fault, but I can't help feeling that RMS has also let me down a bit. Can anybody suggest a simple workaround?
*BTW I did have to reboot, to get fstab updated.
