OK, I agree with you that RMS, as a member/leader of the free software community, then implicitly he is a member of the F/OSS community.
I'll have to go back to find what mikey said regarding the existence of a F/OSS community. I will say though, that I am aware that there are people in both camps (the "F" and the "O") who would argue rather vehemently that F and O do not go together and cannot be a "community". Even Wikepedia's entry on FOSS indicates the term was originally coined in an effort to bring together the two separate movements.
While we may accept the idea that F and O form a community, I think there are many people who do not think that is the case.
