As far as they have a coherent political stance, it falls in line with Corporate Feudalism. Big corporations 0wnZ all, and if they don't, they ought to. However, they'll graft for anyone who ponies up the ante. Brown has said as much. It would be really interesting to know who funds the AdTI. It would also be interesting to call up ol' Alexis himself on the ouija board and see what he thought of them. I have an idea he wouldn't consider them one of the most attractive aspects of Democracy in America.
Brown is very much putting forward the view that there's no distinction between F/OSS and the public domain so that big corporations can snaffle it at will, or suppress it and foist their products on the world, hence his creation of the concept of 'hybrid software'.
As for his intimation that people working on Project Y for Big Bad Corporation are also contributing to Open Y, and passing on details of the magic smoke, let him provide some evidence, otherwise it's an invitation to prove a negative. Incidentally, I'd like to know when Brown is going to stop beating his wife.
Software patents are an attempt to establish the idea that there's magic smoke in software. Brown seems very fond of this this idea of magic smoke and software.
A problem with Brown's view of the world is that it's US-centric; they can legislate away in Washington and maybe coerce the corrupt EU to follow suit, but it's a big world and it's changing fast. India, China won't give a damn, they don't now.
Another problem is that software isn't like material resources, all the work is in the design, the cost of manufacture is negligible, it doesn't wear out, anyone or group with the skills can write it.
