I have had a tin-foil hat moment over the recent events at GL/SCOX, please bear with me.
I have noticed, as a long time lurker, that the run up to the current situation has a lot of similarities to the position just prior to the last GL v Yahoos debacle. This is all IIRC, I have done no searches.
Just before John Gabriel was expelled from GL, I had been pleased to note that there seemed to exist a situation in which GL and the SCOX board were vying to get reports and fillings out on the web first. I found this quite exciting, and looked forward to the more or less constant flow of information about the SCO case. I was just starting to think that the SCOX board posters were edging ahead, when PJ dropped her bombshell and the IBM/SCO research effort changed overnight. The camaraderie that had built up, and which even a lurker like myself could feel, was gone, never to return. There followed a period, as you all know, where anybody wishing to discuss GL or PJ were hounded from pillar to post, and the BGE as they became known, eventually gave up the unequal struggle. The SCOX board languished for a long time after these events seeming to have had the stuffing knocked out of it.
Over the last few months however, thanks mainly to the efforts of Al Petrofsky, the SCOX board has again been getting the court documents first, up to a week in some cases, and discussing them at length. I have seen posts on GL where people there have been aware that things had happened in the case, but due to PJ's refusal to acknowledge Al's site, were left in the dark. I got the impression that GL found itself in a position where the only current info was SCOX info. and PJ could not take advantage of it in a timely manner. I think that this state of affairs once again got to her (she made several disparaging remarks about the SCOX board over the last few weeks) and her recent outburst has once again polarized the SCOX board members.
(Tin-foil on) I think that she was perfectly aware of the effect her post would have and she must have chosen both her words (she says she is a writer now) and the moment, with care. Unlike after the first Grokwar, the mood on the SCOX board seems more resigned, and conciliatory, with posters I consider to be GL fans being quite mellow in their positions, even Tim sounded reasonable, he even criticized PJ. NB. The last time I can recall him using a style similar to this it turned out he was lying. joke joke! In the future I expect to see Anon. posters on GL directly posting info that the SCOX board has unearthed, in a new found "spirit of cooperation", and PJ openly making use of it. Al will become isolated, and I expect he will just fade from the scene, but I hope not.
These are just my opinions and IANAL.
