In an unrelated matter (mostly), I'm reviewing some history and getting up to speed on an organization's topology. They are basically a Windows shop and unfortunately, one of their prime applications only runs on Windows. It is a dog, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find a replacement for it or get anyone to agree to replace it even as bad as it is. And its current hosting is outsourced, so we have to use the ridiculous Remote Desktop Connection to get to it. Real fun.
In an interesting twist though, they ended up with this solution because their SCO Unix box died along with the old application. Just shut down creating a lot of problems, including data loss. Not sure how the money flowed, but it was at least one lost SCOX license in the fourth quarter (calendar) of 2006.
