But, from the POV of IBM, Novell and RedHat, there's little point to any of this if they merely see SCOX into liquidation, and the plotters and providers of cash disappear to fight another day, or show what can be gotten away with. The only objective worth achieving is to make Yarro etc., suffer personally, have fees returned from BS&F and sanctions placed on them, and follow the threads back to Redmond, threatening anti-trust trouble. In other words, they have to demonstrate clearly that a manouevre like SCOX isn't just a free ride, given someone has $50 million they don't care if they lose; there will be personal consequences, so no one with an atom of sense would get involved.
Whether IBM etc., can succeed in seeing Yarro in jail and BS&F put through the wringer is another matter, but having them try would be a very uncomfortable experience in itself. [ Parent ]
