Frankly, I am amazed China ever used any microsoft product, as paranoid as they are. Sure, microsoft is now giving the access to the source, but how do the Chinese know that the binaries supplied are actually compiled from the same source? Does microsoft allow them to compile from scratch the entire toolchain and up? I doubt it.
On the other side, this could be seen as a downside for open source. The g-men can't slip in back doors... --- DISCLAIMER: IANAL, may have no idea what the heck I am talking about, yadda yadda yadda.
