IMO it basically comes down to he was going to keep harassing people so long as no one of real resources was willing to stand up to him.

But Al's letter to Novell and their response to him (and we don't know whether they've subsequently contacted JVM) woke Merkey up to the fact that Novell was likely to land on him like an elephant with a belly full of prunes.

So this is my way of saying THANKS to Al Petrofsky for having the stones to publically stand up to JVM and the wisdom to do something constructive in the course of doing so.

You're a better man than many Al. Especially those who would spend twenty minutes surfing the net for hot tub pics of you!
